Going for an MOT

Can anyone tell me for sure whether or not its legal to ride an unregistered bike with no reg plate to and from an MOT ?
My local MOT'ers not sure, neither were the local Police.

It is :smt023
BUT
You must insure it on the frame number and you must have booked a time/appointment at the MOT station.

Insured from the 20th but the blasted things decided not to start. Back to the ignition system over the weekend.

If not Mot before the 20th of this month because insure may be a cover note for just a month

Most on the frame number cover for only 2 weeks

Carole Nash gave us 30 days insurance on the frame number :smt023

Just use the number plate and tax disc off another bike. :smt023
