Re: Dijon
It's a Triple up to 2K then the No4 kicks in- Engine management light is on, and there's a bearing or bush or summat whirring or rubbing at the front nearside when moving.. ABS and Hill Descent lights are on.
The overall condition is good so I was gonna let the garage have a look to find what the fault codes are, but the part ex or sale value is less than any repairs would cost, shame really.. Webuyanycar have offered us £570 (nearly double what a dealer offered as a PX last Sat) so it will go there at the weekend.

Well it's not done bad if it's 14 years old.
It amazes me how long cars last these days, when we started driving a 10 year old car was on the scrap heap.

The car itself is sound even at 14, but the engine is K series.. as ripped to pieces by watchdog on several occasions and Top Gear at least once per vehicle it was fitted to..
It's on it's 4th head gasket despite having the Landrover uprated gasket fitted first and second times by them and costing us both times despite being 13 months from new the first time. at just short of £600 a chuck it's not good.

Re: Dijon 2, Ded Car
OK so we finally took it to westealanycar.com... I knew what to expect but er indoors now just wants rid, she doesn't feel happy driving it anymore.
The online quote was now £445.00
The guy looked at the paperwork, "oh wow, one owner, Service history, you obviously know it's history, fantastic" he went to look at it, "it's been well looked after, it;s all very tidy, just a couple of stone chips"(tiny).. he drove it forwards and back again "yes it sounds and drives fine".
Go back in their shed.. the offer is.. £185.... but then there's the £64.00 admin fee.. just £121 left.. (fk me the tyres are worth more than that.)
I didn't have to say anything, Jane beat me to it. "You've got us here under false pretences, a waste of petrol coming down".

Re: Dijon 2, Ded Car
The engine is probably fine.. Scouse came over yesterday and we looked at the fault codes, they were all misfires, there was nothing else, I have just ordered two coil packs off ebay for £10.00.
A wheel bearing (kit) £14.99.
And judging by everyone across several Landrover Forums.. the TC and HDC lights on the dash are caused by the brake light switch on the pedal, it's another Landrover known problem that should have had the switch changed early in it's life.. when I've looked. it still has the old type fitted.
We are beginning to suspect that Mr Garage who said it was 'knackered' simply didn't want to get stuck into an old car, although he's done all the work on it for us over the last 5 years...
Will see if £30 of bits and a bit of sweat will sort her out.

time to only ride cars of the 70s with anti rust treatment, easy to repare if it's a common car and not f***** electronic and dash board which let the car on the hard shoulder

Re: Dijon 2, Ded Car
The landrover has left us this evening...
A broken spark plug sorted the chronic misfire, and a brake light switch put the dashboard lights out for a short while at least...
but we've gone Japanese again.. Nissan Juke Kuro..
This is not the actual one...
