Because they want the Tax, pure and simple, there were hundreds, neah THOUSANDS of "found it in a barn mister", many many cars were coming in from Europe and no tax was paid, personally, and I am seeing hints of this, I believe that the HMRC and PTU are building a huge database of values of bikes, the questions that they ask on the (Business) Importers applications are very involved, I believe that is so that in Years to come they can identify every specific model and when you claim you paid £1,500 for that spangly Z1 they will be calling you to account for that . . . they want the tax . . . and LOTS of it!
