Dutch Triples Rally 2015

Post by Wolfie »

This is a great event to cut yer foreign teeth on, always easy to reach from just about any part of the UK.

We are having a lean year this year, missing a few UK Rallies but I've been promising to return to Dutch for ages it must be 4 years since last time we visited. It's usually late in August and far as I can remember we never saw any rain.

Getting a group together for the boat can get the price ridiculously low.

The actual dates and location is usually announced around May time. Leon usually updates us when he knows.

Just testing the water, like.. Who could be up for this?

Dutch rally is the last weekend in August

Unless it clashes with the German triples rally, then it is moved

Fknell. been checking prices for the Ferry... the bleedin prices have somewhere between doubled and tripled (no pun intended) since we last went across..

Best price for 2 bikes, 3 people is £585! (£195each).

We've had prices down to £60-80ea in the past by filling a four berth room, this time it's going to be over £165ea for the same

You have to book a room, and even a breakfast too now, it's automatically added to the price.

It's starting to feel like a huge (Steam Racket type) Rip Off. Grrr!

Looks like a "no Dutch Rally" year again for us.

take the tunnel ( around € 50 on each side if you book now) or a ferry Folkestone to Belgium (the ferry is really cheap) :smt003 .

Just considering Rays thought about bikes/van, our bike bus will take one but I doubt two, otherwise it's just too dam expensive.

Not sure how much a hire van with permission to take it out of the UK would be?
Or how expensive a van would be on P&O

Trying to get two in ours would be favourite.. it is a car. A bloody big one, but a car nonetheless according to DVLA.

It all relies on Rays £90 deal, best I can find online is only just less than 3 people and 2 bikes.

Thanks Leon. Thumbs Up

Any news on the special deal Ray?

So, Leon gave me the website address for a Dutch booking agent, where I went through the business again, being online we can't block book once again, but for 2 people and 1 bike Hull - Rotterdam was around £275.00 which is a damn sight cheaper than booking here in the UK but still very steep.

But I've also been looking at other options. The Tunnel is almost certainly out as its over 250 miles from here.. in the wrong direction.

But then there's Harwich to Rotterdam which is £149 for 2 people 1 bike, and would probly need an overnight stay cos the Ferry leaves at 9am and then arrives at 5pm meaning a late ride up to the site. with fuel to/from Harwich + overnight stay, it won't be far off the £275 above.

So the only possibly cheaper option left is to ring the Dutch booking Co and see if we can block book. Which I'll do that tomorrow if I get time (and if they speak English).
