7 Inch headlight

Post by BIG H »

Those of you that have original UK spec H2`s,KH500`s & Z1/Z900`s & early Z1000's are probably
aware that you can fit a standard car 7 inch headlight lense unit into
your headlight shell.
I have tried the cheap (£10) H4 lense units off ebay.
I found the light output pattern to be very poor, especially high beam.
I then tried a Lucas (LUB383) unit,it was a lot better,but still lacked
penetration into the darkness on high beam.
I have now tried this Cibie car unit & have found it to be far better
than the other units.
Low beam light pattern is very good.
High beam light penetration into the darkness on unlit roads is
excellent even when using the lower 45/45 wattage H4 bulb.
Its sold through the Valeo brand with the p/number 082439
and it does have Cibie on the glass lense.
This lense unit is for the UK market, driving on the left.

Have bought the Valeo unit as recommended by Big H from my local motor factor and yes it has a Cibie unit in the box.
Not used it yet, but thanks to Big H for the tip off.

I trust you have the correct chrome rim,
should be Kawasaki p/n 23006-035 with the STANLEY code 001-0877
stamped on it.
If you have a chrome rim with an adjusting screw on it (American type)
the 7" lense unit will not fit. Thumbs Up

The above part number for a UK rim should be 23006-031 not 035 & may have
1 of 2 Stanley codes stamped inside the rim. 001-1123 &/or 001-0877.

Hi BIg H
It's not going on one of my triples but on a Norton Commando I have.
Thanks for the advice though because if it is good I was considering one on a triple.

Update to this thread now we have new LED technology.
Note, the Vision x vortex lamp may not be road legal in the UK as we drive on the left.
