Spent too much time chasing a low voltage misfire on the S2(Boyer equipped) swooped leads, plugs, plug caps, coils and it's still there

Fed up with bikes at the mo.

Spent yesterday afternoon and most of today testing the charging system on my Kawa GT 750. Battery not charging. Left me stranded on the way to work last week - bloody heavy bike to push the final mile. :(

Regulator output (loaded) - is too high.
Regulator output (no load) - OK
Stator coil resistance - OK
Stator coil insulation - OK
Rectifier checks as per Kawa manual -
Rectifier Circuit test - all 12 readings - OK
Regulator circuit tests - thyristors - OK
- Control circuit 12 and 24 volts applied - OK

So the battery is not charging but most of the checks say the reg/rec is OK. :?:
The Haynes says to check by putting a new unit in...
So obtained NOS regulator/rectifier - still not charging - but now ignition switch playing up, replaced ignition switch and still not charging. So today I have been over the best part of the wiring loom with a fine toothed comb , which entailed taking off the tank - when the fuel line came off the carbs, which meant taking all 4 carbs off to put the fuel line back on - found a mysterious grey wire that PO had put in, but that was OK, eventually found a broken wire in a connector block - replaced that and ........ it now appears to be charging. Yay. But I now have to get the wiring loom back in the headlamp shell and the headlamp back on.

It was pretty warm on Saturday so I went in the garage, it was fkin freezin in there, with the open door and within minutes, the bikes were absolutely dripping with water as the warm air condensed on them :( fkr.

I think it is time to sort out those rattly cylinders on the S1, they've only ever had the rings replaced since being fitted in 1979.

I also found oil in the generator, drat.. So out came the engine too.. and it's 15 years since the first bits were restored some of them are starting to look tired again.

As my parting gift I put an oil heater in between the two bikes and put a cover over the whole shebang.

Last Week(well maybe a bit before) I got a rear H2 euro mudguard with reflector

well worth the research and wait to find one. Thumbs Up
