RH switchgear

I've never really thought about my switchgear until today. I have a H1E with what I assume is US wiring as it doesn't have a side light. So the RH switch says.....ON-PO-OFF. I have two questions:

What does PO stand for ?

On my bike , when moving the switch to the left , i.e. from the off towards the on position, it falls into a detent opposite the PO position and does indeed put the dip/main light on. However it does feel like the knob could continue to be opposite the ON position but there is only what feels like spring pressure against it and no detent. It feels like a flasher would, although it doesn't flash or do anything else for that matter. So is the knob supposed to have 2 detent positions ( OFF and PO ) or 3 ( OFF , PO and ON ) ?

I don't have any problem with the lights so this query is for anoraks.

I have always been puzzled by this.

Pilot On(ly) - but the wiring diagram has a city light - not a pilot light

Parking On - but the parking light function is controlled by ignition switch position rather than by the RH switchgear

The switch is arranged

OFF --- PO--- ON

So it could be "Partially On"

The Owner's Handbook doesn't tell you what it means - just what it does.

Inside your switch one of the cable holders is longer and stops the lever from going further.

You can remove it, snip the link that connects the two positions (or separate the wires onto their own proper connection) and fit a sidelight for UK spec.

Then the important bit.. paint the PO white.

I presume your comment about painting the PO white, is for the MOT tester ?
