The KTC is plugged in the May MCM
I received the May issue of Classic Mechanics this morning and was delighted to see a half page article in the intro pages plugging the club, including a couple of pictues. Well done for promoting it. Simon Lister??? I only say that as you are mentioned regarding the new Northern Rally.
Incidentally, there is also an article about a tidy unrestored (but completely cleaned up) 5,200 mile S1B belonging to Luton man Mark Sulman (a club member anyone??) who rescued it from 30 years dry storage in Hartney Wintney. Coincidentally, in the early days of the club 20 years odd years ago we used to have monthly Sunday meetings at the Pheonix in Hartney Wintney, and to think this bike was just up the road. It's a small world sometimes - like finding out yesterday about Pete Gards H2C which he keeps with a couple of other triples only a mile from me. Where else are they lurking to be discovered.

Keith Philpott gets the credit for the ad and photos and sorting the ad in the first place; I helped with the words (and any typos they might not have edited out)Hal wrote:I received the May issue of Classic Mechanics this morning and was delighted to see a half page article in the intro pages plugging the club, including a couple of pictues. I too visited the Phoenix at Hartley Wintney in my early days in the club before I restored my S2. I recall Dave Grist on his S2 and H2C (not at the same time!), a certain Ian Brison on an H2 and a Z1 and you in your yuppie-mobile (Pug 1.9 GTi)

The Jota owner was Paul Voyner from Reading, now living in Germany and without a bike. He had a few triples over the years. I swapped him an H1B for the Dave Crussell S1A/500 he couldn't find anyone interested in buying off him. The first time I met Paul incidentally (and his brother) was when I also first clapped eyes on Rick - at the Dutch rally 1982. Another Phoenix regular of course was Alan Smith then of Bordon and now resurfacing from years in the triples wilderness. I was going to the Phoenix for some years before I got the 1.9

Hello Hal & All
,
I am sure that Alan Smith had an H1b as I remember that like myself he worked at the RAE Farnborough & he knocked a Set up using Stainless Steel - In their time & their Materials!!
I also remember one Sunday when Ian Brison turned up on an imported 1973 Z1 & let us all have a blast on it up the A30 towards Hook - Only problem was that there was no Front Brake!!
- No Brake Fluid!!
He had only taken it out of the crate from the States the day before!! - No Brakes-No MOT- Totally Illegal!!
That was also the !st time I met Mark Hutton who lived at the time at Knaphill,Woking & had a H1a and a bad Leg which is now fixed happily
And Ian Piggott who got me into this Triples lark in the first place - Ian you have a lot to answer for!!!
Ta Ta - Keith.

Ian Brisons Z1 - oh I remember that bike. I'd always wanted an original "black engine" Z1 .....until I rode that bike. Underwhelmed is all I can say - stick to 2 strokes. Ian had a regular turnover of interesting bikes I had a go on - XS1 650 Yamaha, the original drum brake kick start one in green/white a pleasant bike; RE5, early one with flip up instrument cover, had a strangely flat power delivery; CX500 Turbo, quicker than you thought it might be; CBX with glorious 6 into 1. The blue H2 above came in the container of triples he brought from the States in about 1991.
I will ask Alan about the H1B as I just can't recall him having one at all, and I spent a lot of time with him back then drag racing etc. before he moved to Loch Ness.
