Ouch!!!! Any of you lot got a spare H2 first oversize 71.5mm Wiseco Piston with rings I can buy please)

This was an exspensive breakfast at the Oakdean this smorning!!

On the way back doing 110mph & POP

Engines all ready to be lifted out the frame, it's one thing to re-build but I need to find out why it leened out on the middle piston, so far I have had no problems at all?? any ideas anyone.

Looks like I will be taking the H1 to Blackpool after all

Quite a big hole too I can get my little finger through it

god dam !!,
in pic, left looks lean, middle fucked, and right ok,...you running 34's ?, ish 230's mains, 35+ pilots and needle 0ne up from bottom, whats the head work ? any port work,..hard to say from here matey whats up,...

mines same spec with uni's and thats where me needle is,,,,get some more juice in there,,,,all speculative, yours is runnig very dry !(new term but if its not blackish to start go for it check plugs too), we dont want too rich same, stock settings for air screw,.good luck, hows your head for deto,,.could be timing cock,.but starting would have probably said something were wrong there,,.eg) should start on one or two /3 prods,..

Sorry Del but I know you will find a solution and, after all, if you will take your H1 for the NW it's the 40 th anniversary of the H1.

THE OTHER CYLINDES LOOK GOOD. DONT THINK YOU NEED TO BE LOOKING AT SETTINGS! MORE LIKELY A LEAK?

Del if ever you here noise like someone crunching crisp packets together throttle off cos that's the sound you will here before you put a hole in yer piston

, but just for future reference

like sam says prob an air leak left hand pot looks perfect right looks rich IMHO

is that sound from experience GT,..?
how you sitting on bike,...nearly black is good like all my bikes run, this is not refelective on the plug colour i've found, light brown /white is very wrong on piston,..

oK, re read your post with commas' inserted,.still brown /white is wrong colour for a piston,.boy thats dry in there,..

yes the crisp packet noise is from experience, as there is a fine line between top performance and detonation.

the reason I was saying that the brown/white piston was good is because when I was at collage doing motorcycle engineering one of our tutors showed us a piston that had perfect ignition/mixture/squish settings, there was a perfect circle of very light brown on the outer edge of the piston and a dark brown inner circle.
But this was a racing 2 stroke and like I said to get the best out of a 2 stoke you need to be pushing the very limits of the performance envelope

back in the day when the old bikes was new, the ends of exhausts used to have an off white colour, baffles too, after a good thrashing, you just dont see that anymore, everything is oily,..

TRUE. So what has changed? Is it the way the bike is set up, the petrol, the oil or global warming. Not sure, but it must be something.

My S3 had grey ends to its Baffles. Never saw any oil! 3 Years of hard use!
