Historic vehicles road tax

Just had a reminder that my Historic vehicle which is tax exempt, needs to be re-taxed for the coming 12 months.

Cost for 6 months £0, Cost for 12months £0, or I could SORN it.

I have requested that I pay using old Ten Bob Notes and am still awaiting a reply.

I have just taxed my H2c ,I can't get my head around this bollocks.
I have four 1975 bikes and a 1973, probably end up paying tax on those as well

I thought about just "taxing" the H2 just for 6 months to see if they smelled a rat..

But if I "tax" it next week will I still lose nearly a month? Robbin Barsteds, Perhaps I should complain.

Correct me if I am wromng but I think the start date is the 6th April, i.e. the new tax year.

The way I read the law, on the 1st april 2016 bikes manufactured before jan 1st 76 will be exempt. So my 76 kh wont be historic until next year (if it keeps rolling) even though it says it was registered on the 1.1.76 and dvla wont accept it was made the year before. They must think the nips are very fast workers! I did read in the dvla blerb that up to 7.1.76 would be accepted as manufacture for 1975 but so far DVLA have not accepted this reasoning when I was trying to get my Z1B manufacturing date revised to '74. I eventually got it through with extracts from Dave Marsdens book on Zeds as mine had an early frame no.

Ray I think your bike was exempt last year, as it had to be built in 74 to be registered in 01.01.75.
My 73 Z1 was the same 01.01.73 road tax exempt with othr 72 bike

Yep totally agree. I was a bit slow with my z1b as I thought DVLA would automaticaly classify it as historic. So I lost out a few months. Live and learn........ I will be ready for the KH!

Go to dvla web site for historic tax and follow the form. You will send in your log book with the historic tax box ticked. Quite simple really it is the muppets at dvla who make it complicated. If you need any more help just shout
