Dishwasher

Hi All
After seeing a few previous comments regarding cleaning up parts in dishwashers I decided to try it out.
Rather than incur the wrath of the good lady wife I patiently waited for a supposed working second hand dishwasher to turn up.
Set it up in the workshop with a 25 litre container for the waste water. Great anticipation only to find out it would not fill with water!!!
Bypassed the faulty solenoid ( filled it to about the correct level with a watering can).
Put in a dish washing tablet and an old H1 head went through the cycle including refilling with water for the rinse.
Waited patiently.....
Cycle complete opened machine and great disappointment the head did not look much different.
A total waste of time.
Any ideas if a different cleaning solution has been tried?
I thought it said Neff on the dishwasher must say Naff!!

The only difference I even found by putting degreased parts in the dishwasher was when they came out, they were hotter than when they went in.....<LOL>

It will de-grease parts to some extent depending on what type of soap is added but I found a spectacularly large ultrasonic cleaner on fleabay a couple years ago for $200 bucks delivered that does a much better job!! You might want to keep an eye out for a decent one that hasn't caught the eye of everyone else......so you can get it cheap!

This was the set of S1 carbs that all had stuck slides & it's only filled halfway with water....until they bathed for an hour or two in the cleaner....I fit a Weber carb in 2 weeks ago that was off my girlfriends sons car...a '79 fiat spider...2 hours of cleaning followed by a complete dis-assembly, cleaning, repair of two diaphragms and reassembly and it runs like a top now. I can fit all three H2 cylinders in that thing!!

Have an ultrasonic cleaner but obviously need a larger one for crankcases etc.

Anyone local to me want a free dishwasher??

The only reason I've used a dishwasher is if a set of crankcases are too shiny after blasting.
I find that a run through the dishwasher tones them back to nearer a factory finish.
