H1B Spotted Poynton Manchester

Post by steveh1d »

Was working up in Manchester yesterday and an H1B went past about 12:45.

Who are you? Hope you didn't get caught in the hail storm.

Could have been, I didn't get a good look, only that it was orange and looked like a B. My knowledge of triple identification usually runs to the colour scheme, other than a D has different fork ears, narrow front mudguard and grease nipple on the rear hub brake spindle ....... I think :smt102

Well. on a moving D I suspect the black and white pinstripe on the tailpiece would be easiest way to spot it versus an E ? !!

But if we start playing the spot the D differences, then there is another " extra" grease nipple, the seat lock, the clock faces, the Kawasaki loged "points" cover etc etc !!

I`m not sure Pete Aris has his B on the road yet tho`, Malc ?

Not me; sold my H1b to Simon Lister a few years ago.

There are few in Poynton who consider themselves Mancunians, I think

Well, if we are REALLY looking closely then the early h1d has the typo errors on the VIN tag . . . hard to spot at 30 MPH though :?

I`m getting my own back for all the Knobs at Shows that pick faults in some omy sale bikes !!!

( Completely missing the point that they`re not resotred , just roadworthy, and HALF the price of a restored bike !!! )

So come on , one of you must know if there is another grease nipple on a D ?? :P

Well I bloody started something here didn't I. Just been out in the garage with a torch and can't find the 3rd nipple. I do have a vague recollection of there possibly being one behind the gearbox sprocket, or did I dream that?

You will have to put us out of our misery soon Neil.
