Wow! I hadn't realised just how much it had changed.. the commentator said it was 9miles I thought he meant 9kilometers but no.. The track used to go through the villages of Burneville and Stavelot which are now well outside the track perimeter, it's just a shadow of it's former self..
And:-
Pits that were trackside, not down a slip road, with mechanics darting around as cars raced past.

Straw bales covering road exits and entries.

People sat on the straw bales or standing right next to the track during the race.

No run offs, just concrete posts and ditches, oh and houses.

The cars were fettled at the local hotels overnight and then driven through the town to the track.

Drivers with open face helmets and no seatbelt in an open cockpit.

and our Stirling came second..! Top man.

I loved every minute of this.. except the rain maybe. Thumbs Up

Was there on the 70s with my first h2a for belgium gp. Each evening friiday and saturday on the weekend of the gp was a kind of mad sunday, the spectators rode thiers road bikes on the track. I did of course :smt003

A bit of a return visit for you then JP, it will have changed quite a bit since then too..

Even when we went, they had literally just finished the reshaping of the last corner which had been called "Bus stop" until then.

Makes IOM TT look perfectly safe. Good watch. Liked the tea tray with cups and saucers, teapot and sugar bowl in the British pits.

The other riders could have stopped for a cuppa and still lap me when I went round

Maybe it's time do do the SPA rally again?

2017?

2018 should be the one Leon... 50 years of the H1!

Unfortunately we are priced out of the Local Ferry, even the Dutch Company you found the details for me are far too expensive although cheaper than the UK bookings, I do still keep checking and even emailing them.

We'll be looking at the Harwich / Zeebrugge route in future but the ferry times are far less convenient for a Rally weekend.
