It would appear that Paul strayed onto the wrong side of the road on a bend, the French driver was blameless . . . and, understandably also devastated by the accident . . . All so sad for all involved
Keep One wheel down . . . . .

I'm glad I had the chance to spend time with Paul at the Manx GP. Very funny and likeable guy. Life can be a shit bag at times.
if you wish to quote me, that's fine. But please use the quote button provided, not a variation of my words.

Re: TRAGIC NEWS DIJON TRIP
My condolences to Paul's wife, daughters and family.
What happened?
we were very close from the track around 10 kilometers.
We rode both french firt then UK guys then french but sometimes we did as we did on UK rallies.
On each crossing one of us stayed and waiting the others excepted the guy on the crossing is usually a froggy.
I was the last before a bridge and just after we should turn right so I passed Cheno, Chris, Nick to show the way.
Then there's a straight road for 3 or kilometers then twisty road.
So I passed Tartan and Alloallo and went until the next crossing on which I waited the other saw Nick, Tartan and Alloallo, not Cheno and Chris.
On the straight road Cheno was for unknow reasons suddenly on the wrong side of the road (left side in France) and a car was coming on the other side. The car driver tried to avoid Cheno and went on the ditch. But he touched the bar of the 400 S3, Cheno went ahead the bar, falled and was hit by Chris when he was on the ground.
But the reason of the death is on the crash the heart of Cheno stopped and the doctors didn't succeed to reset his heart.
He wasn't fast at all when he crashed and the crazy thing is that his bike isn't really damaged, bent bar, turn signal front bent.
Cheno drove very carefully all the trip.
It's a tragedy.
Keep me inform about the funeral.

Re: TRAGIC NEWS DIJON TRIP
I offer my sincere condolences to Cheno's wife, daughters, family and friends.
I only met Cheno on the day he died. We met at the Channel Tunnel. We chatted and laughed and rode together with Chris across France to just outside Paris. We then met Tartan, JP and AlloAllo and we were a happy group of bikers all doing what we love doing on Triples.
I am glad I met him and rode with him.
I have not been able to post anything until now and nothing I say seems adequate.
As JP says if Cheno's family want more information then I too am available. If there is information about the funeral then please let me know, as I would like to send a tribute if the family will accept it.

Re: TRAGIC NEWS DIJON TRIP
This has really hit me hard
I think mainly because all the miles Ray and I have covered doing the Dutch and German rallies, yes we made the occasional error at a junction or roundabout but we got away with it....
There by the grace of god go I

Re: TRAGIC NEWS DIJON TRIP
RIP Cheno who I never knew.
My thoughts go his his family and to Chris who must be feeling bad and down.
There was a similar accident on a ride I was on a few years ago and it turned out the rider had had a fatal heart attack and lost control. Poor Cheno may not have known anything about it.
