Many of you guys know how many bikes I build so I've bought from probably every vendor here at some point or another. I will call out good or bad service/products in a heartbeat.
I posted in Feb about the great service David provided in getting the order sorted for my S1C. What I didn't share was the snafu when the pipes arrived a while back. While beautiful work, they were the wrong type. I had ordered the GP style and the standard upswept pipes had arrived at my home.
I didn't post anything about it because I did not want to embarrass David Higgs but wanted to give him a chance to rectify the issue rather than piss and moan over what could have been a mistake any of us could have made. He immediately owned the error and promised to expedite a set within a couple weeks. At first, we planned for me to return the “wrong” pipes but after thinking about it, I suggested that since I have a zero humidity storage area downstairs and he has lots of sales over on this side of the pond, I could just store them for him then ship them to his next customer in the US which would save him the added shipping both ways! He appreciated the suggestion and agreed.
So yesterday I’m on the phone with a friend who we all know and love and for the first time, I just happen to mention the snafu that had occurred with my pipes and how I was hoping my correct pipes would arrive soon. He replied “You mean that you have a set of brand new Higgspeed S2 standard upswept pipes in your home?” Yes I said and he told me that his son Jimmy had just ordered a set!
I laughed and promised to reach out to Higgs for instruction……David Higgs replied yesterday afternoon while I was still at work that he had forgotten that I still had the set but that mine had shipped last Friday and he would check the orders for Jimmy’s order.
I got home last night and my correct pipes were waiting for me on the front porch….absolutely stunning the polished stainless….Very nice work!
This morning I got David’s email surprised that I knew about his order before it had even been processed but yes, please ship them to Jimmy and he will of course cover the charges….David truly is a world-class vendor....I'm not trying to fill his head because then he'll be a bigger PITA than he is but he sure makes some nice pipes<LOL>!!
Thanks David!!

Kudos to you for giving Dave the chance to rectify the mistake and of course to Dave for rectifying it.
As has been said before, this IS a great club.

That's a nice story Jeff..and the moral of the story is not to piss and moan but work together.

Aye, he's not a bad old stick. You all know the story of me taking his RD400 to the TT last year but here's another. 3 or 4 years ago at the NW rally I realised that, in my usual rush to get ready, I not only forgotten my cash but my wallet too. I realised this just after I arrived and everyone I mentioned it to laughed and said "Nice one James" or something similar. Dave just said, "No problem, I've got plenty of cash with me. How much do you need?"
As it turned out I was able to get some from a cash point by using a phone code from NatWest after answering a string of questions.
When I think about it there are quite a few people who have done me selfless favours since I joined this club. Thanks all.
