Does anyone know if it is an offence to have a bike mot'd and not have it taxed?

I'd like to mot my Z1 to help sell it. But do not want to have to tax it and then promptly un tax it; or get fined if I end up keeping it.

I think I have seen somewhere, that the above was no longer allowed, but can't remember for sure.

You are allowed to ride your motor cycle untaxed to an MOT station and back. It must be the shortest route. BUT you must have insurance. Speak to your insurer how to best do it.

gotz is correct, it is legal be drive/ride without tax or MOT as long as you're travelling directly to an MOT testing station, within a reasonable distance, for a pre appointed test. No detours for a quick blast!

Make sure when you book it in that they have a record of the booking in case you need to prove your appointment, should you get pulled.

As you're using it on a road though, it has to be insured and mechanically legal.

So, this "habitual offender" had a £100 for failing to Insure a H1 back in March, even though the bike was in pieces and hadn't been on the road since initial registration back in January - AND I am always insured for anything at all times, I just SORNED The bike at that time, last week the fine was upped to £1,000 for the same bike for failing to insure . . . I double checked . . it IS on SORN - what the fuckety fuck!!! ? ? ? ?
