Post by kas750 »

Will my bike be covered by the clubs/show organisers insurance whilst in the building or do i need to organise cover with my own insurance company?

Richard Young can confirm, but I believe the answer is yes and no in that order, but wait for confirmation. Some policies do cover shows, so you might want to check in the meantime.

Hello Adrian :D & Others who have similar concerns as regards Bike Insurance at Shows it is probabaly advisable that you PM Richard Young rather than wait for a posting :D
The Club is personally liable for Public Liability at any of our gatherings & at Stafford our Bikes are covered by Footman James but not sure about Donington?

Crikey it is only a couple of days away now! - No use leaving things to the last minute

See you all there - Ta Ta - Keith

The club's public liability insurance is about the public coming to harm in, on or around our bikes and display isn't it? Andrew Greenwood's shows are different, but Morton's show application form specifically states that we are liable for a hazard or risk you haven't told them about, hence they ask for a risk assesment from each exhibitor and hence we cover ourselves with the club insurance.

Insurance for damage to our bikes is a separate issue; I've checked my Carole Nash policy and under the "Endorsements applicable" and amongst a long list it states the following:

"Rallies - You can use your motorcycle in connection with Club Rallies. This insurance also covers your vehicle in connection with any National or International rallies. However, we do not provide any cover for rallies that incude any racing, pacemaking or being in a contest or speed trial.

Static display - Under section 1 (Liability to others) of this document, we will cover you during the static display of your motorcycle."

It does go on to cover track use as long as you're not racing etc.!!!

So the bottom line appears to be that under my policy, I am not covered for damage to the bike. Obviously I am prepared to take the risk, but many of us are and some clubs keep the public off the stands or do what we do - keep an eagle-eye on all the bikes and tell people (adults and kids!) to keep their greasy mitts off!!

This is a bit of a grey area ,i know that our club liability insurance is for the public ie. anybody that is hurt injured etc. would be covered ,but as far as bikes on display at club events i would check under your own insurance companies,as previously mentioned The Stafford show orginisers Mortons offer cover (agreed value) but Andrew Greenwoods shows are not.
