So what have you done with your triple/Bike/life this week?

On High beam, the LED doesn't seem to illuminate as far as the Halogen, the Low beam also stays on when High is selected whereas Low goes off on the Halogen.

The roadside fence is clearly visible in the Halogen light but invisible in the LED light... I dunno either

I think I'll stick with the Halogen for now on the H2 as there are also some fitting problems to overcome, but it should fit the S1 and has just gotta be so much better than the standard 35/35Watt one.



On a completely different tack on Sunday.. I thought it was time to get rid of some garage rubbish and also some Leylandii cuttings, so I loaded up the Oildrum burner and as usual put some old petrol/oil/brake fluid in to help it along, this time however I popped back in the garage and got distracted before going out to set it going.
Presenting the gas torch to the bottom resulted in an almighty bang, the garage shook, all the house windows rattled, Birds scattered and there was a mushroom cloud of foliage and other rubbish spreading over the driveway and cars.. fk me..

What I 'd done by letting the liquid seep to the bottom was make a bleedin cannon,

Well this week I have been mostly checking out powder coating for my frame and all associated parts,my paintwork has been with Neil the don since Stafford, the engine is ready for vapour blasting, all the Crome work is at the platers, Father Christmas is bringing me my Higgspeeds, which leaves me with loads and loads of polishing, well that was my week and I hope next week and all the following weeks to come will be the same, thank god for Kawasaki Triples

I HATE vertically split crankcases

Finally got round to replacing the crankshaft in my 1965 Kawasaki J1T 85cc, shame really as the engine had never been apart. No choice though, as when I took off the left hand engine cover the generator fell out.....

All started well. The engine came apart easily, nothing got stuck, nothing was worn nothing got lost. New mains and LH oil seal quickly installed. Happy days! So in for a quick sandwich then back to the workshop for a quick reassembly.

NO CHANCE - I spent all afternoon assembling the bottom end 6 times and each time, despite not disturbing the gear clusters or selector, there were problems with gear selection (basically none), or free turning of the gears (essentially locked up). So called it a day before I took a big hammer to it.

The next morning I did a dry reassembly (no crankshaft, no kickstart gear etc) and it was fine. So very gingerly split it again, put in the crank and other missing bits, applied the gasket goo and very carefully put it back together. And amazingly it was fine.

What was the problem before? No idea. What did I do differently? No idea. And I don't intend to take it apart again to find out. Got invented horizontally split crankcases for a reason.

So on the home straight now, hopefully get it up and running in January then the trauma of getting an age related registration

I have just got my 1974 H1e MOTD so can now apply for a uk reg as it is an unregistered
US import. The bike is in Candy Red and unrestored in fantastic original condition.
Looking forward to taking it out . Roll on the summer.

So why a triple....it all started when I was a young boy walking to school. Couldn't resist walking past a driveway where there just happened to be a bloke starting up his Kawasaki triple every morning. From all those years ago to this I've always loved them but despite having many bikes over the years have never owned one up till now.. Still can't believe i now own one . Fantastic machines.

Thought you might know it, Pete has mentioned you to me. I think I have something very special and I am very proud of it indeed. I am going to put some new tires on it and have given it fresh fluids. I am going to keep it in standard original condition. All it needed was a good clean and polish.

Was a nice fresh afternoon. So took the S2B out for good 30 mile run. Used the gallon of fuel I put in . Had a good ride over to borehamwood through the lanes and good blast back on way back. Bike loves that cool damp air.

Today I have been gorging on all things festive, red wine, turkey, beef, sprouts, stuffing etc, oh, and with the help of my long suffering friend, fitted the freshly painted front callipers back onto my H2 and bled the brakes. Just need some nice weather to test the awesome stopping power

Due to me recovering from an illness, the only thing I've done this week is made a nice new phone cover to go with my purple people eater
A bit sad I know and I can't wait to throw a leg over the old girl when the fine weather arrives.
