wow COOL...the only problem is that it gives unprecise readings on shiney (refective) objects.
Nobody really cares if you're miserable, so you might as well be happy.

How accurate is it for tyre temperatures? Might get one if they're good.

It seems quite accurate. It can measure heat on surface of glass, skin,walls, engine parts and at a good distance. Have not tryed tyres but see no reason why not.

On shiny objects ( downpipe ) infrared thermometers gave give a wrong reading. See here;

been using one for years on the dragbike you can tell if one cylinder is leaner than the others etc
