Where do I start been looking at classic 2 strokes for a while now
my dad is reliving his youth and bought from a H1 and project / doner bike from a nice chap called Robert from Cornwall

Any how's dads bike turns out to be dels old bike on here .
Long story short I went down to Eastbourne had a go on dads H1 and mother says I can have the other project bike

Thanks mum ( chealsea girl ) and dad (mr krabbs ). Both members on here

In a way it's great that it initially cost me nout as it's beginning to cost a fortune

Engine was half split due to crank failure .
I've split the bottom end and run the crank along with the barrels up to Gary for some love that man is a true gent , sorted me out with a H1 D rotor and showed me a few things to look out for !!!
Got the correct cases coming from the other Gary from up north and he also sorted me out with a side stand , another true gent
Wiring loom and stator coming from the USA from Danny at triple parts again a gentleman

also a massive thanks to my mate Barry for his constant support and guidance!!

One thing I have learned is most of you guys are so helpful and I don't mean this funny but I don't think you'd get that from a younger generation .

Any ways enough of that I've been getting stuck in a few pictures to follow

Masked area is where the frame has got to be welded up its cracked by the bottom mount



Couldn't leave it all bare metal so I put a coat of paint on



And don't panic I masked this up

So glad I took the time and effort to degrease the frame and rub all the grime and crap off as I found this old crack that could of easily been over looked ..

So only one thing for it really



Welding time with that done I went on to do this






The wrong black I know !!

With this all drying I moved my focus over to the front forks .
Stantions totally knackered so will be preserving a new set with seals and oil ..

Some ham fisted test has been at them in the past but should be ok to go again for a while longer .

Oil in the fork oh my god it was like treacle !!

We don't mess around with welding .

So yesterday spent another arm and a leg

Chain and sprockets
Stantions and seals
Rear shoes
Front wheel bearings

Don't get me started on the tyres they was a total **** to remove
So with a little be of luck once every thing is here a few days and it will be back on its wheels

Crank is done man is a legend only dropped it off Friday night

Hit a bit of bump in the road again replaced one fork leg lower as it was butchered.
Cleaned off the other lower only to find the h1 butcher got the other lower



Built it up temporarily so I can get it back on its wheels nice and easy to work on so I dont mind ..

Done a head race bearing conversion and done away with the ball bearings fitted the bottom and top yoke



Il do a bit more tomorrow

You'll need a small spacer between the headlamp brackets and the yokes as you will have made a bigger gap by fitting the taper rollers
Might have a fork bottom, will look tomorrow

So after slogging it out for a few hours installing tyres , wheel bearings , rear shoes and riding and cleaning stuff up








The bars are temporary

Got a few bits to go over again but seeing it like that is rewarding

You have the brake arm/rod upside down Lee. The rod should be above the wheel spindle. I understand it can be dangerous the way you have it - locking up with suspension movement - but you'd find standard pipes probably not fitting like this anyway.
