Air Compressor Question

Thinking of buying myself a Sealey PSB10 portable soda blaster(specs below). Sealey tell me that I need a compressor with a tank of at least 200 litres to run it, although I have found a guy who uses a 150 litres tank and it runs no problem. I have access to a compressor with a 100 litre tank that produces the required PSI and more than the 7 CFM required to run the unit. My question is would the unit run on the 100 litre compressor despite what Sealey say as it clearly produces more than enough air to run it?

It will certainly run but you may have to keep stopping work as the reservoir empties and wait for it to replenish before you can start again or it may be fine and the manufacturer has put a large safety margin on the tank size to avoid complaints

Short answer is 'yes'.

In theory if you got an air supply of a steady 7cfm then the receiver size becomes irrelevant unless the duty cycle of the pump unit does not allow it to run constantly. If the pump delivers say 10cfm it should be fine. Like Malcolm says, they're probably just playing it safe.

Thanks for the info gents, the compressor puts out 14.6cfm and can run to 8bar/115psi, which is well over what the blaster says it needs to run. Nice to get some feedback from people who actually use these things as oposed to some sales bloke. Just couldn't get my head around the figures they were coming up with. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
