Me again has anyone ever fitted taper head bearings to H2 C, I have just fitted a set and the top and bottom cages fit perfect in the frame but and here's the big but the bearings fit 4 mm higher, so once the top yoke is fitted the, the gap between the top face of the upper yoke, where the nut screws into the stem is obviously 8mm below the top of the yoke, the bottom bearing looks fine and the gap for the steering lock top to the frame lock stop is ok, Im completely stumped, the seller has confirmed that I have been sent the correct bearing set ??????

Yes, the Tapers are Taller.. we still fit them though they are far better than the balley things..

Just don't overtighten them, you will also need an extra ring for the headlamp ears to stop them rattling up and down.

Just use 36mm o-rings or caliper seals to make up the gap.

That does look a little larger than I remember when I did mine (about 16 years ago). but if the bottom of that top yoke is sat on the top of the Bearing cover, it has to be right.

Alright Sam my casing fits nice and flush but the bearing is 4mm above that can you remember how much your bearing sat proud of the casing

I left my bearing cover off to give a few more mm insertion into the top yoke.

Also, i dropped the forks slightly so the ally fork top is inside of the top yoke (so it looks flush). The reason being if it was in the normal position on the now raised yoke, the front forks are in effect slightly shorter hence steeper angle hence increased tendency to shake. Whether it made any difference i dont know but 30 years on its well behaved.

It didnt look quite that deep if i remember. You did remove the ball race runner from the frame?
