Took a spin out on the H2, delivered a club members mag n card then went to an old friends in Barnsley.
He made me have a ride on his scooter (Bergman) I din't like it... I had considered getting one cos Janey can't get her leg over (a tall bike) any more.
Then gave the old bike a good caning on the way home..
Fiday night was a Birthday party, Ride out as above on Sat then beer n curry night out, then a drive over to the Blackpool Rally on Sunday, got home yesterday and fell asleep to the F1.. am knackered.
Come to work today for a rest.

Aye Lad it's the closest I'll get to the NW again.. Norbreck Castle Hotel was packed weather was smashing, fish n chips was good as usual, we waved as we went (up and) down the M61.. then turned off too early for the M60 and had a tour de Manchester while Satnav girl recovered us.

Re: So what have you done with your triple/Bike/life this we
I fitted a set of Dunstall rear-sets (thanks Malc Anderson)

Had to do quite a bit of grinding off the bottom of the gear change lever and chamfer the rubber so as to set the right angle for easy operation without hitting the chamber.

Rode from Bristol to Frome, then down to Chesil beach in Dorset.

Then back to Weymouth where my three kids cleaned the bike for over an hour.

You can't do better than this!

Re: So what have you done with your triple/Bike/life this we
Went out for a nice sunny day ride yesterday, slowed down at a roundabout, and got knocked (human cannonball style) into the carrageway in front
I know its a Harley
- but I like all sorts of bikes and will miss it as I think it is fucked as, apart from the obvious damage, it no longer changes gears
I will stay at work next time things are quiet, or do some decorating.....no things can not be THAT serious

Re: So what have you done with your triple/Bike/life this we
Four MOTs and a fuel bill
Another peaceful morning was destroyed by the realisation that all of my “cheap, fun” steeds were about to expire on the MOTs, bottom. This was brought to my attention by the faceless sheep bothering division sending me a reminder to renew my “free” tax, in fact, two lots of reminders.First problem, the weather - I wanted to ride my run arounds to the test station which happened to be 20 miles away, a quick check on the online weather channel and a nod to the barometer in the hall, after tapping it twice, because thats what you do isn’t it?, revealed that the next two days were changeable, but promising - game on
First off, “Soupy” the be-dencoed H2 fist in an iron clad glove wrapped in crushed glass and dipped in marmite. My ever supportive other half watched me in a mix of pity and amusement as I juggled choke, throttle and technique. The list of expletives was ever increasing and varied but I finally remembered that I had carried out a plug chop and left the caps dangling, plugs looked fine by the way. Once plugged in and throttle wound to the stop for a couple, bingo. Fortunately Trace closed the porch door as the, to some, great aroma of unburnt fuel and two stroke oil wafted/flooded the area. I wobbled off in the general direction of the MOT station. Half way there I realised that I had left home without the Triple owners most useful tool - a plug spanner, bottom. To be in with a chance of making it, I didn’t let the revs drop too low and made very good progress, well, till I realised I hadn’t got enough fuel to do a return trip. Pulling into the station for a shot of Shell V power, I topped up, paid the bill and left in a cloud of smoke and laughing scarily. The MOT station tester was amazed that he didn’t need the bike running to test the various lights etc. The Koni Dial a Rides got an honourable mention due to their damping characteristics and shiny shiny condition result - PASS. I rode home with a smug grin that I couldn’t see due to the mirrors displaying their fantastic stroboscopic tendencies.
Next, “Bjorn", H2 but very clean. I checked the leads, and the toolkit and heaved on the kickstart, it runs, yelled I in a sort of shocked/smug cross. Once again I rode to the fuel station and topped up, same guy on the till, “nice bike”, “thanks”, as I wrestle another receipt into my wallet, and with a healthy flapjack consumed in a flurry of wrapping and crumbs, I was once again on the road. The MOT tester was impressed with the bike, once again, it didn’t need running for the various electrickery parts of the test, result - PASS. Riding back home I was amusing myself with the way the bike performed, even though Im running it in
The following day dawned overcast but promising, time for my very first triple and the start of my financial ruination, “Stinky”. Now that the primary gear has been “ossed up”, it doesn’t rattle and clang and started fabulously, quick check under the seat for toolkit, phone, plug spanner and waterproof trousers, I was off. Stopping at the obligatory fuel station, the teller asked me if I was running some kind of business, I couldn’t resist it so told him I was depleting the worlds stock of fossil fuels in the shortest possible time, as a thank you for being a frequent customer I even got a discount on my full fat flapjack - awesome. The MOT tester was slightly bemused with another triple turning up, so much so he took a photo of the bike, not showing the reg’ plate, to put on his website. I did ask if he had an extractor for the MOT booth, just in case he did need the bike running, fortunately this wasn’t needed, once again - PASS. The ride home was fantastic as I went the long way home, wonderful
Last but not least, “George”. This bike is a complete unknown to me, I had never ridden it and it had lived in the garage since I took delivery of the bike. This bike is very special to me, its a H1 and I think its great - that statement was before I rode it. Starting the bike was easy, fortunately, and I set off into the 30 zone of the village. I glanced into the void where the left hand mirror would have been and found myself amused at the Jack Russell sat at the side of the road that went full Polaris when I passed, “Wimp” thought I. Leaving the village and entering the fast as you dare section of road, I wound the throttle on. The noise that seemed to follow me, and accompanied by lots of smoke, was truly mind bending, so much so, I shut off, went down a gear and did it all again - oh my word, what a sound, its like a cross between a shriek and a gang of angry hornets running in hobnail boots and firing Gatling guns, in a cave - awesome. I rolled into the fuel station and this time all the teller could manage was, “bloody hell, thats new isn’t it?”I left with a smile and a feeling of satisfaction. Lovely sweeping roads were despatched under the guidelines written on the Tacho’, yep, Im running this one in too. I arrived at the roundabout with my usual flourish of gear changes and yowling pipes. Pulling on the front brake lever resulted in a “oh my God, Im going to die” as the speed didn’t seem to diminish but my pulserate and sweat production skyrocketed. Reaching for the back brake helped the situation and just as I was going to use the Flintstones method of braking, I slid to a halt in a shower of gravel and fear, if the Jack Russell had been there, it would of barked “WIMP” Onto the test station, allowing lots and lots of braking distance, and not even thinking about my lack of toolkit etc, I arrived thankful to have made it unscathed - well unscathed physically, mentally I was shredded. Andy, the owner/Tester was amused as I wheeled the bike onto the rolling road for the brake test. “Bloody hell, drum front brake, how crazy is that”, how on earth did people race these things, they must have had Gonads of steel. The rolling road brought on many comments, most of them unfavourable, but, it passed, next the lights etc. Ignition on, “Bloody hell, whats that?” as he quickly turned the ignition off, “What?” say I, in a fug of two stroke smog and tinnitus brought on by riding ear plugless and experiencing said army of Hornets. “That!!” exclaims Andy, “Oh, thats just the electronic ignition knocking out analogue tellies all around Warwickshire”, “Should it buzz like that?”, “Yes, and to paraphrase Neil and Bruce, Its how you know its working, if its quiet, its broke!!”Apart from the hilarity on the rolling road and a lazy indicator, a PASS. I yowled home and put the bike back in the garage.
I then made the mistake of checking my receipts, total for four MOTs and fuel - £147.60p - bloody hell, Oh well, at least the Tax is free
Enjoy the sun when we get it, ride safe and I look forward to seeing folks at Stafford/Fleetwood/Shakey
