What wrong with putting the details on the Kawasaki Triples Forum. That's partly what it for isn't it to info club members whats going on in Triple World.
If we dont use it we may lose it so to speak.

Dave.
Sorry Dave, but most people like it, so that's what we use. You could always just turn up and it will be a nice surprise :D

I like the route for the Saturday ride out - the same one I'm riding to get there. The scenery is stunning though.

Decisions decisions, Sensible triple motoring or Denco fun and hilarity. It will never win a prize for anything except being grin worthy :D
Really looking forward to this as it will be my first proper rally, I went to MFN last year but couldn't stop, rode their in the peeing rain and enjoyed every minute. Met some great people too Thumbs Up

Well, I have been waiting to see about work commitments on Friday and I now have the approval of my wife and kids to desert them on a bank holiday weekend (which for those of you without three small children will not know this is almost a miracle).

So all I now need to do is decide if I'm up for a 220 mile ride from Bristol to Lancashire on Friday night, a 100 mile ride out on Saturday to Devils Bridge and then the return 220 miles on the Sunday. Not sure if my old age is up to this!

But this rally is where I grew up (in Garstang, about 16 miles away) and that run up to Devils Bridge was my regular Sunday run. The road from Garstang through Cockerham to Lancaster was witness to many, many youthful adventures on motorbikes and so it would be good to come up there and meet some Northern faces and see my mum at the same time.

I'm doing a 100 mile round trip down the M4 motorway to a meeting tomorrow to see what it's like on those sort of roads. In the last three years I haven't taken the H2 on a motorway - it's so boring and monotonous. So we'll see how I fare. (Maybe I'll regret putting on those dropped bars ha ha).

On that note, what speed do all you regular long distance riders cruise at on a motorway that sort of gets the best balance between petrol consumption, reliability and not taking all day to get there?

Thanks for any advice.

My long distance triple riding has been on a KH400. I have also used my Kawa GT750 to ride with H2s to Dijon.
On the KH I can "cruise" at 65/70 on the motorway, on my Kawa GT750 this will cruise at 80mph and I can keep up with H2s on the straight. It is best to keep changing your speed/throttle.

I Refuel on the KH every 80 or so miles.
So I estimate for you Bristol to Fleetwood will be 3 fuel stops and total travel time of around 4 hours plus a bit.

Refuel yourself every other fuel stop - coffee and donuts or similar.
My other tip is don't wear a rucsac - these wear you out. Or if you must just a small one. Use a tank bag and panniers, let the bike carry your luggage. (see my avatar). STOP if you are tired. On a triple you do have to keep stopping for fuel anyway.

Your 100 mile trip tomorrow will give you a good idea of what it will be like.
Yes the motoway is boring.

The 100 mile rideout at the rally will be much more fun.
Ride safe.

My tip, hire a van, you can park your bike in it and sleep in it overnight, and you and your bike will be fresh for the rideout on Saturday.
