Photobucket frozen

Post by stevie747 »

Hi, anyone else had their photobucket account frozen saying you've got to pay $400 to upgrade to P500 or summat.

Just checked a previous post on here and my image has been replaced by an ad saying upgrade to bigger bandwidth :smt102

I'm pissed off with photobucket, even when its working it's painfully slow, I can piss faster ( which at my age is a bold statement)

PB also wants to charge for removing adverts from its site....PAH..

Flickr might be better Thumbs Up

I've pretty much given up with PhotoBucket as it has become impossibly slow over the last year or so. I thought it was just down to my ancient computer, but it seems not from what you say.

After some digging, it appears if you have a free account you're limited to 10Gb bandwidth a month, and if it exceeds that, the account is frozen and you either have to pay to get it unlocked ($400) gets you unlimited bandwith, or wait unit your month ends and it should then reset and everyone can see your pics again. Basically, if anyone 'views' your image on a third party site (as in this forum) it uses up whatever the image size is, say 5Mb for a pic, mine are usaully around 2Mb. I don't really understand how that works, as presumably any linked images must be constantly live on the forums, whether someone looks at them or not. :smt102

I can't find anywhere on photobucket where you can monitor your bandwidth usage. Any IT nerds on here who could shed some light on this?

The thing is my account is private and I haven't posted anything anywhere for ages, and my account starts at the 11th of each month (you have to dig down to find when you opened your account), so somehow in the last couple of weeks millions of views have happened to the few pics I've got scattered around forums, which sounds bollocks to me.

Sorry all my historic images have disappeared from this forum, maybe they'll come back on the 11th July
