Engine mount rubbers.

I just ordered a set of Suzuki GT750 engine mount rubbers.
My H1F cases appear to be already bored to 25mm. Result!

Is it? I don't know.
I popped out the old ones, and they look like original Kawasaki ones, but for some reason, I was under the impression they would have been smaller.
But when I measured the bores in the cases, they are 25mm.
Maybe I misunderstood what I have read about folks using the Suzuki rubbers on the 750's.
As an aside, I'm now into a set of selecter forks, and maybe a drum. Oh, and as the forks are fooked, I'd better change the dogs too. This thing's getting expensive!

Not heard of Suzuki ones fitted to a 500 before, let us know how it goes..

Kawasaki never supplied rubber mounts for the H2, so it has been a mod for some years to modify the cases (of teh later models only) to take the readily available GT750 rubbers.

The 400 & 500 triples have rubber mounts with long central "anti crush" tubes that touch each other centrally under the engine. These are there to allow the engine bolt to tighten up without pulling the frame rails together onto the rubbers and distorting/straining them and stop them functioning. The GT rubbers do not have these built in tubes and have a separate loose one I believe that slides over the engine bolt. Anyway, you wil need to consider what to improvise for this tube if the GT ones fit the cases (this I don't know)

From what I can see the H1 rubber mounts can be bought from Germany, but for fitting onto existing tubes. So you need a set already to refurb rather than to buy them outright. These guys (Hard to find Parts) used to sell them outright, but it doesn't look like they do now.

I got the old ones out with the tubes, but they have turned to jelly.
I will use the Suzuki rubbers, which are easily available from Suzuki Vintage Parts, and make up a nice stainless Tube to fit between them.
I can also get shimming washers from my local bearing supplier, to shim between the rubbers and frame.
The horse shoe ones I have seen that Kawasaki use, look to be a PITA to fit to me.

I think what Hal is trying to warn you of is to be careful not to pull the bolts up tight by pulling the frame into the engine. Properly shim your engine first....and be cognizant of the fact that you won't have any means of keeping your isolators from compressing into one another so you might need to employ a section of copper, alum or steel tube.

Yes, as I mentioned in my post above, I intend to make up some stainless Tube, and I have a source for shims from my local bearing company.
I intend to fit it all up while the cases are empty, and after powdercoating the frame.
