Re: 24th Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show, Staf
Just got back from the show.. It's been a busy day.
This morning was dry and warm so the H2 seemed like a good idea. On Thursday it rode like a dog, surging, kicking, bucking, really awful so last night I cleaned the carbs and set the Throttle lift offs at 9mm again.
Today I set off and it was noticeably smooth and clean, heading south was a pain into a stiff headwind but the A38 W and A50 N were great. The traffic queue for the Showground started before the lights at Weston this year! Glad I went on the bike cos that last 2 miles can take nearly as long as the rest of the trip in the car.
Me and some other bikes sidled down the outside, right to the front and into the carpark, only to find that the queue for tickets was nearly as long as the traffic queue outside.. Grrr.
Having been let in by the generous donation of a wristband, I went straight to the Club Stand. A great showroom for our club as usual with some terrific bikes on display, Great job Nick.. I hope you have all been and shown your faces at the stand.
Some of the other Club regulars have their stands around the show, RB and Yogi were there, Scottish Neil (The Don), Gary Cranky Clarke, Higgsy was there (somewhere) and some others I also failed to find. I had a small shopping list, it was all done in a one stop shop at SimonTriplesParts Stand in the side hall.
Rest of the day to myself then.. I went and manned the Club Stand for an hour or so before retreating.
The ride back started off shit. The Bike was kicking and surging as bad as ever.. WTF?? And that nagging vibration was back.
I stopped at Tesco Uttoxeter to fill up and adjusted the Left Carb lift off slightly higher since it was running much colder than the others and setting off was much smoother again to start with (except for the vibration).
But she kept up a decent 80-90mph pretty much all the way back, whatever that vibration is, it can't be serious or it would have said "Bang"! by now.
That's twice now I managed to go on a bike, bang on 200miles door to door to door, I remember Stafford as being a bitter Show with biting winds needing thick coats and gloves and the heater turned up in the car.. But, Weather or not, you really ought to make the effort.
Nick has beaten me to the Pictures of course
As for me and the H2..? Hornsea tomorrow
