Can see it too Hal, on an 8 year old PC running Windows XP. Let's see if getting a JPEG the right size on Windows Picture Manager whic is built in and easy to use posts as an attachement.

The "Error 500" error is commonly caused by incorrectly configured system settings or irregular entries in the Windows registry. This error can be fixed with special software that repairs the registry and tunes up system settings to restore stability – download here.
The article provides details on the error meaning, causes and ways to repair the error.

Meaning of "Error 500"

"Error 500" is the error name that contains the details of the error, including why it occurred, which system component or application malfunctioned to cause this error along with some other information. The numerical code in the error name contains data that can be deciphered by the manufacturer of the component or application that malfunctioned. The error using this code may occur in many different locations within the system, so even though it carries some details in its name, it is still difficult for a user to pinpoint and fix the error cause without specific technical knowledge or appropriate software.
Causes of "Error 500"

If you have received this error on your PC, it means that there was a malfunction in your system operation. Common reasons include incorrect or failed installation or uninstallation of software that may have left invalid entries in your Windows registry, consequences of a virus or malware attack, improper system shutdown due to a power failure or another factor, someone with little technical knowledge accidentally deleting a necessary system file or registry entry, as well as a number of other causes. The immediate cause of the "Error 500" error is a failure to correctly run one of its normal operations by a system or application component.
Ways to repair "Error 500"

With this error, like with most system or application errors, the user is usually given the option to send an error report to the software publisher, which is a good way to help the publisher eliminate such errors in future software versions. For a more immediate fix, advanced PC users may be able to repair the error by manually editing the registry, and others may want to hire a technician to do it for them. However, since any manipulations with the Windows registry always carry a risk of rendering the operating system unbootable, whenever a user is in any doubt of their technical skills or knowledge, they should only use special software that is meant to repair the Windows registry without requiring any special skills from the user.
Safe way to repair the error:
Click here to download the error repair application
Install and launch the application
Click the Scan Now button to detect error causes
Click the Repair All button to fix the error
The same application can be used to run preventative measures to reduce the chance of this or other system errors appearing in the future.

I couldn't be arsed with all that Malc

I wonder if Photobucket will do a deal for us all :?: I've tried smugmug and Flickr, without much success...

Posting pics has often been an area which causes difficulties, I wonder of this site couldn't be 'adjusted' to make life easier for those who want to post pictures :?:

BTW I'm more of a Luddite than a Dinosaur

Your most likely problem is that your photos are too big.
You should resize them to under 300KB before posting them to the forum.
For basic computing on a PC or Laptop dump Windows & use Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS system
It's a free system if you don't want to make a donation.I use it all the time now, Windows is just a nightmare.

I really don't know why you guys find it difficult to upload pictures?

My only problem from the phone was that my phone takes Fckin huge pictures, far too large to display so wouldn't allow me to take a picture and upload it direct. The size reduction add-on simply can't cope with that size.
If you want to take a picture on your phone and upload it direct then set the camera to save a smaller image (file) size.

People keep comparing this Forum to sites like Facebook who have drag an drop or dead simple click and post.. these other sites are generally NOT a Forum format.. Well if we had the millions of pounds budget that Facebook and the likes throw at their websites every single year, I daresay it could be made so simple here.

I sent a request for a quote for such things to Mat several months ago, I have had conversations with him about this and other things in the meantime, and I still have had NO quote from him.

Your son seems to know what is required and if he can do this work Malc, let's commission him to do it.
