Malc... Rick.. Sam.. anyone else, will you post me the images that you are struggling with by email please?

Along with details of How you were trying to display them.. ie Flckr, picturebook.. another picture host? and the hosted URL or
How you are uploading them direct from PC/Phone/Tablet? With operating system, version. Browser name.

Description of the error received or even a screenshot of the error.

Nothing has been done to the site since the last crash several months ago when the server space was doubled, this should last us all out now.

Uploading pictures here is the same format as most other PHPBB Forums..

I recently started a new Forum and this one uploads them to a hosting site first (which you have to sign up to) then you have to link them, yeh it's all done on one popup screen but is still far more confusing that this format.

Simons Forum was recently taken over by Tapatalk, and is still the same upload Format despite the huge changes elsewhere, it's such a simple process that they didn't need to change it.

Far as I can tell there are only the same few people who have problems. If it doesn't work I can only assume that it's a problem elsewhere.

Is not just a simple picture size problem? Most people don't realise just how big phone photos are these days and the upload attachment process does not tell you what the maximum allowable resolution is (e.g. 4000x3000 pixels) and size in MB. Simons Forum has a 20MB attachment limit, I don't know what it is on here?

Instead, if the file is too big you just get an error message "This page isn’t working, http://www.kawasakitriplesclub.net is currently unable to handle this request".

I agree with you Wolfie, it is very simple to use, but it could be more user friendly by adding the guidelines above and changing "Upload Attachment" to "Add Photo".

Unfortunately the "Upload Attachment" tab is a part of PHP, we can't change it, and besides, it is for an attachment not just for photos.. Txt files, Doc Files, allsorts can be added using it.

I did some picture tests when the resizing Add-on was first implemented, it can resize images from over 4000px which was around 12MB at that time.

I downloaded Rolo from the hosting site Malc, it was over 4000px and wouldn't upload, not only did it crash the upload but then I couldn't upload anything else, I had to back out of the page and reload it.
IMG_1183.jpg
Then, I simply reduced the size of the image nothing else, and here it is..

So if you want to upload direct instead of hosting and linking.. as above, reduce the size of your images.[/color]

On your Apple stuff Malc, I have no idea ask your son, he seems to know all about these things.
But in windows even their very basic offering "Paint" will reduce images.
An alternative is to reduce the image size in your camera settings or download an app to do it for you.

Your Rolo pic was so big that only the very top RHS (Two yellow bars) was shown, no Rolo anywhere without searching for him, his head filled 3/4 width of the window.

Well myself and many others I don`t think will bother to try and upload pictures on here. Quite frankly the techno nerd language goes straight over my head. What`s happened to the days when it was simple to do. Why break it if it ain`t broken means nothing these days. :(

Eh?? it's never been easier. in older systems you HAD to set image size exactly or it was displayed to big, too small, upside down, whatever..

Even ten years ago you COULDN'T upload it direct to the site.. you had to upload it to a host site using FTP and link to it.

I give in. Case Closed.
