Engine temperature

Post by Collyolly »

Hi all, just looking at having a go at re-wiring my generator, it's in a shocking state wiring wise but the coil readings are O.K. so hopefully a new set of wires will give me a better shot at reliability.
I have got myself some automotive PVC wire which is rated at I believe 105 degrees C, how hot do you think the generator end of the engine gets after a bit of running and heat soak ?
I am also going to use some glass fibre style sleeving to give more protection but just need a bit of confidence about the general working temp, the existing wiring is very stiff and the insulation is cracked in places but of course I have no idea if this is original, it just now needs replacing.
Many thanks
