New Member, Chester H2C

I'm about to post a Wanted advert, but thought it best to introduce myself first

I recently bought an H2C from Malc87. My first triple, I have a 73 Z1, and my only two stroke is a TY250A, that I bought from the original owner

The H2C is pretty original, and I plan to restore it sympathetically. I restore cars for a living, so a bit of a project at home in the man-cave for me

Some pictures of the bike, sure I'll be asking lots of questions as the weeks progress

I'd like to find a front brake disc with stamping 0A/0B or 0C if anyone has a spare to sell. I have a 7L to trade if it means a swap is preferable

who is recommended to paint a side cover to try and match the original colour/finish ?, what is the process to get correct depth of colur/flake. Is there a guide anywhere ?

primer colour, no of coats built up, then clear over the top. Should the lacquer have a metallic flake in it ?

The purple H2C is the hardest bike to get the paint right never mind match it!

What you need is another paintset to paint
Right hand panel and tailpiece not to hard to get
BUT left hand panel and tank

Looks to me that the tank has been re-sprayed already. As the purple decal is very dark compared to the original paint. So it should not be too hard to match.

Ask whoever you bought it from as they might know.

Welcome. Don’t worry to much about the correct purple colour. They used so many paint mixtures on all the Bikes in the 1970s . There isn’t a True match on any Kawasaki.

I have seen some fantastic paint jobs, where the depth is obvious. I guess its in the prep and the amount of coats used to get this finish

I had a H1B in 1973 my mate also had one in the (same) orange. The difference in the shades was unbelievable.

This is one of the few bikes I have seen that comes under the question of whether to lightly restore and keep a lot of the age related 'Patina' or do a full restoration,
Whatever the final desicion it is one of the most complete unmolested bikes I have seen, in fact it is THE most complete unmolested bike I have seen whilst looking for one for myself, not too many around like this
