Kawasaki H1B Accent electronic ignition
Getting back to the discussion about electronic ignition for the points H1, I fitted a powerdynamo system the other year and removed it and sent it back as it was useless. I have an Accent unit on my GT750 which has run faultlessly for 3 years, I kept asking Uwe if he was going to develop a unit for the H1B, he done one for the later ones. He contacted me at the end of last year to assist with him developing a unit by giving him dimensions,m he has made a prototype which he has sent to me for development and to assist him with photos and more detailed instructions in English, I will be fitting this unit to my bike in a couple of weeks and I am very hopeful that the unit will prove to be as good as the GT unit that is set it up and its set for life , For those not familiar with the Accent unit it is a straight swap for the points plate with 3 optical pick ups and no wasted spark, with only an additional power supply required. So watch this space I will post how I get on.

That's good I am pretty sure that this unit will work fine and do away with the adjusting timing and setting points, it is still in development the pick up I have is just on grub screws at the moment so I will need to mess about a bit to get the timing I don't know if Uwe is planing on a position or if it will just be set up manually much like the flywheel on the powerdynamo could anyone confirm if the other triple units have a fixed pick up or is it manually set up and fixed with the grub screws. Also I'm hoping that the bike runs smoother as my Gt and my pals both immediately ran better with the units fitted.

Will post some pics and results one thing for sure it will get a good test as I like to ride my bike the way it was meant, I will be fitting it when I get back from offshore hopefully we will get some decent weathers up here.

I've fitted the unit to my bike and it runs better than it has ever went since I got the bike. But it wasn't the usual 10 minute job of fitting the Accent ignition that it usually is. I will be sending my full report to Uwe so he can develop it into a plug and play . I had to machine the replacement points cam , there is the problem of no timing pointer so I used a bolt and flat bar but had to time it with a dial gauge, also I had to drill out the fixed points post which is easy to do but makes the original points plate unable to be quickly reverted back to points. The original wiring loom has to be stripped back to fit the new wiring as it is intergrated with the alternator wires. In my opinion the unit works very well and would be great for any of the boys that don't mind a bit of tech stuff but I think Uwe will might need to do his magic to make it a plug and play like the rest of his units. I will send my full report to Uwe with the pictures I have took as I promised him and I will get back to the forum. I have stuck a quick video of my bike running wither unit on YouTube

It sounds easier to bolt on an S series genny, fit the Accent ignition, a modern reg rect unit and do away with the carbon bushes and the original points genny

Done a couple of hundred miles with the bike now , starts first or second kick, plenty of mid range pulls from 4000 in top gear no problem, not had to take the plugs out yet and clean them, normaly every time I went out on the bike and I filled it up yesterday after a run to the Ayr classic bike show and I had got 32miles to the gallon where as before it was anywhere from 19 - 24 as I had to rev it all the time to stop the plugs fowling, absolutely delighted with it.
