Starter Roller
Does anybody have a battery or electric starter roller to sell please or where to get one at a reasonable price.

I was looking for one but they are around £800 I bought the plans to make one but don,t know if i will get around to it

Hi Eric
You need to decide what is the highest compression and biggest engine you are going to start before you buy.
I have a Solo one which starts 4 cylinder four strokes including a 13.5 to 1 compression one but would not work on a large capacity methanol Triumph engined bike as it could not turn it over the initial compression.
You also need to chose a good quality battery with a high cranking capacity.

Hi Eric, not sure this'll be helpful but....I used to have big issues starting my H2B after storage and decided to make a roller starter....Well I made a prototype of it, and it turned the bike over beautifully when in neutral, but the wet clutch on these bikes is so 'sticky' when cold that in 2nd/3rd gear with clutch in the bike was still 'in gear' so to speak and the starter needed huge torque to get it to start revolving from stationary....in fact it simply wouldn't do it. Crashing it into gear when spinning (bit like bump starting) was not good as you can only select 1st.... All in all it prompted me to do what I should have done in the first place and set the bike up really well. It now starts on 10th kick after long layup and first/second kick with regular weekly use. Kickstart still best way for me....As I say, may not be that helpful but I spend a long time on it....see pic....

Sorry guys been on holiday. I have seen a roller on Ebay for £535 being sold by a guy in Louth , he makes them.I only want it for my triples and nothing else. I recently rebuilt my H1a and had over oiled it,after about sixty kicks , masses of bad language , growling at the wife and my bloody leg nearly falling off and feeling absolutely knackered it started. Now it starts 2nd or 3rd kick after leaving it standing for a few weeks. I have a number of triples that have not been started for a while so I just want to make it a bit easier for myself for the initial start up.I have a 750 which I`m in the process of building and they are a bit more difficult to kick than the others and the thought of kicking that 60 times terrifies me, unfortunately age is the other bast--d problem.

I feel your pain Eric. I have a H1F, and since Cranky did the crank and set everything up, 1st or 2nd kick without fail. Just know where the sweet spot between throttle and choke is, and away she goes.
The H2B though! That's a different story.
I don't mind admitting its fooking hard work. Sometimes 2nd kick, sometimes 22nd kick, with me needing a lay down afterwards.

Problem would be Wolfie if does`nt start there would be a triple for sale free and pick up only i would not be pushing back up any hill.

OK GUYS WITH ROLLERS BE VERY CAREFUL AS IF THE MOTOR IS FULL OF OIL AND FUEL YOU COULD HYDROLOCK THE ENGINE AND BEND A ROD
MAKE SURE IF YOU DO USE ONE RUN IT WITH PLUGS OUT FIRST
