This is what can happen if you don't drain the tank and check the gauze filter once in a while.. Luckily this wasn't my oil tank..

Good point Gra. Might explain my low oil usage on the Kawacati.
Will drain the tank and have a look.
Checked the consumption on the H1D yesterday and that is 414 miles per litre which is more like what I expected.

I thoroughly cleaned mine 10 years ago! Maybe check it this winter
