Carb Fix..

Post by Wolfie »

Having been off work bug ridden since last week, when I got back today I found it difficult to enthuse about doing any of 'their' stuff.

Finding that one of our Terminals was just a mm or so larger than what I wanted, I set about with the Drill as a makeshift Lathe and turned down a little pin.. Then filed a peg on it to a very specific shape.

Those of you who were at the recent Southern Rally will already know what this is all about.

I measured once..

and cut thrice, wasting the first two pins until this happened.

This is it's natural habitat..

And here it is at home. It is a firm but push fit, it will receive a smear of Araldite later then be pressed in for one last time. As you can see from the centre punch marks, someone else had this problem over 20 years ago (before I got the bike).

The slot is important to be able to set the Pin straight once pressed in, the original had a small oblong hole to do the same.

Now you can run the 2.0 slides with no machining needed Thumbs Up

Too late.... Motocarb Steve has had (all?) his 2.0 Cutaways machined, they are off being re-anodised while he takes a short break..

The only remaining question is about the length of the peg since his machined slides have a slightly shallower cut, the peg may need reducing in height, hence I'm not setting this one just yet.

I did the '2' slide conversion, I machined (well needle filed) the slide and just re-loctited the pin in just not as deep, I think 2mm instead of 2.5mm deep, that way the std 2.5 slide will fit straight back in
