Apply for v5
I have just purchased an old vehicle that has not been on the road since 1980,it is not on the system at DVLA but it has the registration number and I have the old green log book which if possible I would like to keep, has anyone any experience of getting a V 5 for a bike that has a registration but has not been on the road for over 40 years.

Yeah - you can send the old log book off never to be seen again.
Alternatively fill in a form V55 (I think) and enclose £25 for a new V5 - send some A4 pictures of vehicle, frame and engine numbers - always helps.
I am sure there will be a little backwards and forwards communications - just persevere
I did manage to get a V for a bike i didn't even know the registration number of

Same as Mr. Moped.
Paid my £25 and sweated for a while in case I had bought a nicked bike.
All good in the end.

If it's no longer on the system I think you're looking at an age related plate or possibly a non-transferable version of the old plate. I've got the same situation.

Yes James - had one come back non-transferable - better than age related thoughMitsui Spy wrote:If it's no longer on the system I think you're looking at an age related plate or possibly a non-transferable version of the old plate. I've got the same situation.
