Tool Kits

Post by mraxl »

I'm trying to sort out what tools are used in tool kits for each model. Looking for markings on tools (flag, logo, plain, etc). I'm missing several photos of tools & kit content. Any part number help would also be appreciated.
There are always questions about tools/kits and I'd like to have answers on the Resource site.
Thanks

Good question Dale. I'm no expert on the bigguns but I'll kick things off with KH250

There are minor discrepancies in the literature. For example, the B3 owner's handbook shows this:
1.jpg
but the B3 parts manual shows this:
2.jpg
the only difference is the tool bag, one shows end opening, the other, side opening. I suspect the end opening one is correct like this:
4.jpg
These are the B3 part numbers:
3.jpg
I believe the style of the tools is as shown in the handbook.

The KH250B1 handbook shows this:
5.jpg
And the B1 parts book is more or less in agreement:
6.jpg
B1 Part numbers:
7.jpg
The B2 parts book shows a mix of the B1 and B3 tools. Did the B2 really have both versions of the hook 'C' spanner?

The B2 owner's handbook shows the same tools as the B3 (same photo used).

What actually came with the bikes could be different again. I don't yet have info on the B4 and B5 so it would be good if others could contribute to fill in the gaps.

The KH400A3 owner's manual tool kit illustration is similar to the B3 above but with the addition of a "lever" so it a 14 piece kit rather than a 13 piece one.

The parts manual has the following:

Thanks guys! Keep them coming.
Pics of known tools from original kits would also help.

Update:
Well I've found that sorting out tool kits is a mess!
Wrenches have markings in several varieties...
-flag
-Kawasaki w/logo
-Kawasaki only
-Big K
-plain
The part numbers did NOT necessarily change with a marking change.
Tool kits had a mix of tool markings within.
It also appears that tool kits were not all the same for a given model/year.
It is difficult to determine exactly what was original in a given tool kit after 40 years because some folks think they have original kit when they have a few replacements.... size may be the same but markings different.
Part number listings differ from owner manual listings which differ from what is actual suspected original content.
I'm still looking for help with kit contents that are known to be original!!!
