Re: Fuel Tank
So its not a liner then. One thing to remember is that when cleaning rust out of a tank is that it may open up pin holes !!! Put some petrol in BEFORE its painted......lesson learnt

Re: Fuel Tank
I don`t know if I read your post right but I don`t think you will get rid of heavy rust by just sloshing it around in the tank and emptying out, I use white vinegar and leave it soak for a couple of weeks to do it`s work. White vinegar is not aggressive and works away at the rust slowly and less chance of eating good metal.

Any tanks I restore now get a PUR15 liner, extended up and over the neck so the cap seal sits on it.
With the Bio Ethanol content now heading to 10% even the best tanks will succumb eventually.

Re: Fuel Tank
My tank was quite bad....did the three week white vinegar bit but was still rusty...then after research found this stuff followed the instructions put the full amount in swished it round for a good minute drained left for 30 mins then washed out.... you can do this several times!
I was really impressed with the results i even contacted the manufacturers and posted on here to pass on....but just an opinion!
