Im overjoyed to say Iain came home from hospital yesterday afternoon.
They decided he was well enough to be discharged and his continued recovery would be far better spent at home.
He is tired, still has a little confusion, but the doctors are astounded at his progress.
We also found out that when he left the intensive care unit ,a few days ago, the consultants/nurses/staff members lined the corridor and clapped him out.
(I guess there may have been a time when they did not expect him to leave.)

Sarah and Callum are overjoyed too to have him back and the icing on the cake is its Callum’s 2nd birthday today.

He got his best present “His daddy back”

Sarah said to thank everyone for all the lovely comments and encouragement for Iain on this forum.

Sarah would like to add
Callum got the best 2nd birthday present ever!

After 20 days in hospital, 15 of those in intensive care and 11 of those on a ventilator fighting for his life Iain is home! We cannot thank the NHS enough for the phenomenal miracle they performed with all their care and expertise, especially everyone on the A wards and the intensive care unit that saved him. The ICU and ward staff are fighting for these patients and giving them amazing care at great risk to themselves, whilst also still trying to understand this new virus. Also huge thanks to our amazing family and friends who kept him in their thoughts and prayers.

Iain went to work (postman) and came home and had contracted COVID-19, and we cannot believe how poorly he became. He still has a long recovery to go but he is alive and home. Key workers are risking their lives everyday to provide essential services. Please if you don’t need to go out stay inside.

Stay inside, protect our NHS, save lives.
