Ignition Switch problem - 750 H2B - Switch Required
When i turn the key to the park position it locks and won't come out (well eventually). It is a bit worrying so I would like to sort the thing out. Is the switch a serviceable item? is it the bottom part at fault. Any one that is willing to share their experience and a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Just keep taking it out and eventually it should come out without any resistance..
It's usually the other way round, people lose them while riding cos they pop out when not wanted..
There are three metal tabs at the back holding the Contact plate in position, once the plate is removed there is access to the back of the lock part, Long time since I stripped one, but I think the whole lock just pushes into the body (and out of the back) at this point .

The question is why would you use the park position?
It's for keeping the tail light on when parked in the dark on the street
I would guess you're not doing that?

Lubricate the cylinder with graphite from a pencil or silicone release spray don't put any oil or WD40 anywhere near it.
The park position tends to be tight to remove as they get so little use. The only time I've used one in the last 30 years is coming back from Stafford in a torrential downpour with my S3 on a trailer so I put the light on for safety as a high level tail light on the motorway

Thanks for the advice. It is easily slips into park if one is not careful and then it gets stuck. More of an irritation than anything else as it can't be left unattended with the key in. I wasn't concerned about using park just preventing the key getting stuck. Someone suggested putting it into an ultrasound tank to clean it. Is there anything inside this could damage? It is made like a conventional lock with pins etc. Has anyone taken one apart? What else could I use, brake cleaner? Too harsh? I could soak it in panel wipe to degrease it if anyone has oiled it before this would shift it.

I certainly wouldn't put it in an ultrasound tank.
If you think it's clogged with oil use electrical contact cleaner or Carb cleaner to flush it then silicone release spray to lube it.
It's not a four position switch is it, where you turn it one past park to remove the key?

I suspect you might have a pattern iggy switch
Does it have a number on the chrome faceplate?

It is a genuine switch so I am going to give it a good clean and lubrication and see whether that improves things. Thanks for your advice. Mark.

Not quite sorted to my satisfaction as cleaning and lubricating this original lock didn't cure the problem but it did confirm I probably have a worn lock. I am sorted in that I now know what I have to do as being irreparable I will have to replace it.
Anyone have a spare original lock set or just the ignition?

Key Number is 918. It doesn't really matter though if I am changing the seat and or steering lock as well. I have a another bike with a miss matched seat and ignition (I haven't tested tried the steering lock). Ideally to make them a matched set I need either a seat lock number 924 or a ignition lock number 920. If I can find a 920 ignition lock then I can use the spare 924 ignition lock for the first bike. Make sense. They are for an H2B & C respectively.
