The only thing is two weld two others brackets to held the tank band but don't erase the H2B tank bracket as H2C frame has the two brackets for H2B tank and the two brackets for H2C tank, the speedo isn't the same also, go 10 to 10 and the right exhaust has each a bracket to the frame and not only one for the two as H2B, some others different things to say nothing about tank, seat, emblems

Interesting

I?ve got an H2B Frame No 35299 its got both sets of lugs?
The lugs are either end of a small plate welded to the frame and look very original?

Possibly a new remplacement frame, when you got a new remplacement frame for H2B on the seventies you got an unstamped H2C frame with four lugs, the two to fit H2B tank, the two to fit H2C tank.
Possibly also later H2B frame had the four brackets but your number frame isn't later.

JP

Yes interesting, I?ve just had a look at the number stamp.
The alignment of the numbers to the ?H2F? is not perfectly in line, plus the numbers are stamped more heavily than the ?H2F?, plus the numbers are not lined up to each other consistently.

I?m assuming they came out the factory with a more consistent and accurate stamping?

I've just done the revese.

I had an H2B with a C tank and seat.

Swapped it back to a B set up.

Sold the Tank and Seat set before I'd got them 10 yards from the bike

I bet you did, it's taken me years to get the full set together and current situation might mean I have to flog them before I can even get them painted up. :(

Runs to the garage!!!

Its on the left, so that points to a frame replacement

A - C frame with a B number

Ummm - red face time. The H2B in the brochure shots has it on the right, but looking at the actual bikes they are pretty mostly on the left. The brochure shots are often misleading as they are pre production bikes. The B one more so than some as it also sports the never actually seen one piece pipes. Sorry for my erroneous information.

probably more for asthetics on the brochure pics than pre-production to show damper is there, all bikes are more photogenic on the right ?,

Gordon B, do we have to refer this to a higher authority

So what?s the opinion of the two Northern rally judges.

Malc and Rick, what your take on the situation.

How many green tie wraps does this warrant.

Replacement frame, evolution of H2 frames, ambidextrous welders?

How say you, or anyone else for that mater.

Any other H2B owners got time to look under the seat?

Have seen a one piece pipe on early H2B -german bike- on the seventies: seem genuine.
BTW early H2B has one bracket to hold the center and right pipes but very later H2B and H2C have two brackets for each pipe.

The Model Recognition Manual shows that the Damper on the H2b is located on the right, and the damper on the H2c is located on the left
This info may be more reliable than brochures which were frequently 'adjusted/amended' in order to provide a more 'pleasing' picture, such brochures usually carried a discalimer that the photographs were not always truly representative of the model exhibited - this practice was widely used within brochures applicable to the U.K motor trade in general :!:
