So a "flag" mirror.....but looks engraved not stamped. Any idea what model it was from.....gotta be really early ???

Looks like a standard early mirror that fits quite a few models that is usually plain but he has removed the blue protector and had it engraved.

Don't think it is an original kawasaki mirror. There were copies made in the 60's and 70's and there are repros made now. This one is probably lazer etched.

original miror from the 60s and from mother Kawa came, at least for 69 H1, with the old kawasaki flag engraved.

So thinking....smugly, I will look at April 1969 Cycle World magazine road test and see what mirror is on test model......no mirror on test bike But further on in that issue is a mini test on 90cc G3SS.....with a mirror....with a flag.....which looks etched ???? I shall ask RB....

Got a reply....all early mirrors up to EARLY 1969 had the flag logo stamped not engraved on. He says it could be JPs interpretation of engraved and embossed that is getting in the way ?? Any how after looking at that mirror again its got the wrong method of clamping at the top....it should be done with a clamp around the arm with a stud from the head and a dome headed nut to secure . Malc......stick a piccie of your one on mate ???

I've got 3 'flag' mirrors, 2 on my 1970 B1L-A125; 1 on my 1973 GA5-A100; all stamped and clamped. There's another (4th) that I've not seen on any other bike. It's on my 1967 G1-L90 ... and is rectangular, stamped, but not clamped.

will have a look at the one on my 69 H1 (not on the bike cause it's very rare) but still thinking the flad was engraved I will see.

Sorry boys, I missed this post, so, the box is a new style box which would immediately arouse suspicions. ALL Mirrors were embossed / stamped and this style was fitted until sometime around January 1969. It looks to me that this mirror has been laser etched to produce the flag.

The mirrors with the screw fixing were on the earlier A series (and others) models.

The H1's (less than the first 1,500 units) had a head that was bolted on.

"Barney" as you see in my video, has the correct flag and the head was bolted on . .. . well, until it came loose it was, it flew off on a freeway and after 4 hours of searching I never found it

I then bought a genuine A1 version for $200! But Barney is a rust bucket and a spangly new mirror would just look SO out of place! So when I left Florida for Michigan last Year I put my new mirror on a bucket in a shed, I sprinkled it with salt and hoped that the humidity would rapidly rust and age the new mirror.

When I returned in November I eagerly rushed to see how my experiment had worked . . . . .. . . . Only to find that the salt had "pooled" on the flag and had obliterated it and almost rusted it through the metal

I was riding "Barney" when the mirror fell off.
You werent with us as me Kenny and Al had gone out on our own as you had "business" to attend to.
We managed to get to Empire and then set off for Fishtown and ended up at some golf club in the other direction!!
We found barneys mirror (unbroken ) and I brought it all back to you.
You had an early Samurai or Avenger at the house and took the mirror off that to use on barney.

First picture is us all going, you as well, out and Barney has a mirror in 2017



Second pictures is the bikes me Al and Kenny went out on.
Its after the ride and barney has no mirror.



Third picture is 2018 and Barney has a mirror again, Im guessing the one off the Samurai/Avenger.

I just took a photo, this is 8 months of neat, big chunk Sea Salt on an almost flawess mirror, just the One application and the Florida humidity did this I see in fact that it now has a bloody rust hole! Maybe I would have been better to have used regular salt . . . . . . Oh, the search for accurate 'patina" is long and fraught with let downs

WOW .....always thought the heads were pressed stainless......they always seem to survive really well ???.......until you cover them in salt .....ffsakes....
