Friday the (piggin) 13th

Post by Wolfie »

It's not been a good day.. :(

Set off to NERDOC this morning in convoy with some others, just at the A1/M1 intersection in slowing traffic the nob head in front decided to dive into the left lane in front of a lorry but had to brake to do it then left his arse end sticking out into my lane (2), I had slowed heavily and just cleared him when BANG!
The fooking concrete truck behind didn;t.. He's shortened the bus by almost a foot at one side. I then clipped another car to my left..

Because the wheel was pushed sideways it twisted everything, the Axle pulled out of the clamp, and now doesn't line up with it, the Caliper was splayed far enough for the pad to pop out and jam the disc. The mudguard and bracket are twisted, I had to try and get them off to move it. I also had to try and jack the bike up to get the axle something like, then I could wheel it out but needed to run the engine cos I couldn't push it..
I'm hoping the Stanchions aren't bent but it's not looking promising. Looks like the Axle is bent, Mudguard and brackets definitely are, one mudguard mounting on the fork leg is broken.

RH Classics so far have been fkin useless.. Answered the phone with "Hello?" I had to confirm it was them, he then couldn't put me through to the right desk for an ERS claim so took details and would ring me back. An hour later I got a text with different numbers so rang that claim line, again just "Hello?" I had to confirm it was the ERS desk.. new claim he would try to put me through. Came back he couldn't but would take my details and ring back. I asked when that might be, He didn't know because there was no one else there Eh?

What sort of fookin Insurance claim line is it???

Admiral on the other hand (car ins) had already texted me to say they heard I was involved in an accident while I was in the tow truck! Claim forms sent by the time i got home, Legal forms sent a little later but was already filled in from the Insurance phonecall. just needed checking and returning.
Their processes are already well underway, the car is a write off. They'll come n get it.

So I'll say again, not a good day, I'll be asking around for some parts I guess once RH have got off their arses. At this moment, I don't think I'll be going with them next year.. Will C.

Unbelievable what damage can be done !
Main thing is everyone is ok as metal can be repaired /replaced.
As for RH classics, don't feel you full of confidence at all!!

Cheers Malc, I didn't even consider the bike might be damaged until I had time to calm down waiting for the pick up off the motorway.

I might need a bike valuation and maybe even estimate of parts prices cos my lack of confidence in RH now makes me think they'll try and write the bike off (to buy it) too.. I'll try and be ready for them.. ultimately of course, the Concrete Truck insurance should sort it.. I think they'll try to wriggle out of two vehicles damage.

Either way I think my bike won't be rallying this year now.. :(

My back is a bit achier this morning and a painful lump and achey thumb have appeared on one hand..

Certainly going to be an interesting claim against the concrete truck as the bike is "goods in transit".
If you need any help with valuations on bike/parts etc I can help you

Too bad Graham but you have no body damage so could be worse.

Total bummer of a day :x
Hope RH come through for you. I've been with them a couple of years now but not had to make a claim, so I'll be watching closely for updates on this.

ERS have got their backsides in gear today, the Helpline is 24hrs so the people I have spoken to have no idea who answered the Phones on Friday or why they didn't pass me on..

They will come and collect the Bike to take for assessment (in Surrey!) and repair if feasible, or bring it back, I reckon because many things are not as standard that they'll simply return it un repaired.
Z-Power have the larger and more expensive items, other things from Simon. I might have to ask around for one or two items.. Well, we'll see..

They do not keep bikes, I have that assurance, and while it is away they will lend me.. A Honda  At the Lorry Insurances expense..
Overall, I'm feeling a little better..

The bike Being in the back of the bus is no issue since it is the other driver at fault.

You'll know better than me but I don't think you can attend Blackpool on a Honda, although you do meet the nicest people !

Sorry to hear the bad news Wolfie.

Glad you came out of it OK but with a very lumps and marks.

All the best with getting the vehicles sorted. I am with RH so it will be interesting to see how they perform from now on with your claim.
