First Kawasaki Triple

Post by Goalhanger »

I just bought my first Kawasaki Triple. I’m retired and had a few bikes over the years but never a Kawasaki Triple. I remember back when I was 16 with my BSA 250 and my mates brother had a white 250 triple. I was bowled over. It wasn’t much faster than my tuned and very noisy Starfire but it sounded amazing.
Well finally I need a project and what better.
My little beauty ( well after a few years work maybe) is a ‘73 350 S2A in blue imported from the US.

I’m just waiting for it to be delivered ….
So it’s likely I’ll be back on here asking many many questions.
See you soon.👍

Welcome, you'll also need JIS screwdrivers, they're a slightly different angled head, Vessel are popular but there's cheaper options, have a look on Ebay

Thanks for all the replies. I will make sure I post pictures. Only stroker I’ve owned was a Yamaha DT400 in ‘76 which I loved but sold to get a Ducati, then a Suzuki GS 1000 in ‘79 as it had a nice seat for my girlfriend 🤦‍♀️.
So looking forward to getting started . Not sure if I’ll keep it blue though. I like Pearl white but it wasn’t a ‘73 colour. Or maybe the gold 🤔…..
Cheers

Ok so bike is here. Everything seems seized - engine brakes and even the throttle linkage. No worries as it’s going to be stripped completely down anyway.
But I have a question : my NOVA says frame no. S3T-12491 but my frame actually shows S2T-12491.
For info engine no. is S2E41475
Will the incorrect frame details give me an issue with getting registered etc….?

Sounds like you've been chucked in at the deep end then Phil, it would have been nice to at least have some movement and life before the big strip... Don't be afraid to ask.. Thumbs Up

I wouldn't like to guess at the frame number issue though, I've not had to deal with that side of things.

The Nova is a misprint either by the person who did the original nova or by the nova office itself.
It should be S2T12491.
Is the original white frame sticker still on the headstock as this shows the frame number and the date of manufacture as well as the number stamped to the frame.
Check what it is and if it is S2T-12491 get back on to the person you bought it off and get them to deal with the Nova issue.
If they wont just contact the nova people and explain whats happened.
The Nova people are helpful and mistakes do happen.

Hi. The incorrect number was even in the sales receipt from the US.
I will contact the Nova people. Also says 1972 but the label on the bike says 73
Yep, deep end but I’ve done it before so here goes …
