Kempton Autojumble...forget it !

Post by Craig T »

Managed to wangle a visit to Kempton jumble today. Never been before and won't be rushing back.
95% British iron, most of which looked like it had been dragged round the country for the past umpteen years.
I guess it is the end of the season but still a poor show.

Seller claimed this engine was seized, probably from standing...yeh !
but it did come with a "stand" and a free-flowing exhaust system

No, no, i won't have that. I quite like the show.

It amuses me that i can return to the same seller year after year and pick up the same bent rusty bracket and barter over the price, only to walk away yet again.

I have picked up some triple bits in the past, but maybe i was very lucky.

For me it's mostly become a meeting place and i like looking at the bikes in the car park.

Right time to to plan December's foray and ponder the bracket price once again.

I did n't go to this one - but went to the last one which was a bit disappointing compared with usual - but I suppose we have to expect these things to be a bit down graded for a while.
In general, I really like going, although its only 5 miles away from me and, like Doc says, it is good looking around the car park. Sometimes the car park is so good, with a great variety of bikes, I almost consider not bothering to go into the jumble afterwards!
I have had some great bargains over the years, KH250 A.R.E. wheels for £50, Allspeeds in perfect condition for £70, H1D headllamp ears in perfect condition for £15. These are just what I can remember. The early bird tickets usually wipe out the good stuff for the rest of us now though  .
It does make me smirk to myself when I see the prices people want for really boring old bikes like Superdreams etc. - they end up taking them all the way home again..
Anyway, I still recommend going, as long as you are not too far away :D :
