S2 indicator wiring

Post by BobHenry999 »

All,

Well I have at last fitted the indicators to my 1972 S2 which makes it look a lot better, but I’m having problems with wiring them up.
The rears were easy as each one connected to a green in the loom for one side and a slate grey one for the other side as per the wiring diagram, and when I operate the switch each one lights up in turn but obviously doesn’t flash yet as the fronts aren’t wired up successfully.

The wiring diagram shows a slate grey wire for each one but there is only one unused connector of that colour in the headlamp. It also shows a black/yellow wire for each one of which there are two unused ones in there, but I’ve tried connecting the wire from the indicator to each of the unused connectors with no joy.

Am I missing something really obvious ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have 2 grey wires. 1 from each indicator (bulb)
They go to the double green and double grey in the same order as you have done the rears.
that you have already successfully done.
You need 2x earth leads these are mounted independently to either indicator stem were the 12mm nut is secures the stems to the mounting brackets.
They then using the spade connection, connect to the black and yellow wires in the wiring loom.
If there not working to isolate bad earth use something metallic from the indicator to the frame if it then works
You know your problem is the earth

Best of luck
