 I suppose there was only one answer to the first question.
Next question: I've got a 500 motor, several old frames, various bits of Yamaha running gear. Do I stick it in a 500 frame or shoehorn it into a 250 frame? :D

I've started! Kerry was the only one to offer an opinion on which frame to use so he's now responsible.
Just a gentle prune to get things going.

Jeez...you don't appreciate just how many brackets there are welded to a frame until you start cutting the buggers off!
This evening's modest quota to add to the previous prune. Still a load to go.

I as going to say the main issue is that the fuel tap will foul the engine, but scrap that..
You've probably read this thread

Good luck with the build

Cheers Gary, no I'd not seen that thread. I've already planned the mounts, not that there're many alternate ways to do it. I'm changing a lot of stuff so I'll be making it up as I go along. There won't be much standard on this bike so it's a bit of a blank canvas. In it's first iteration the engine will be standard because I've not got time to tune it but in due course I'd like to modify the heads, upgrade the carbs and a gentle porting job.

Any consolation I'm now 11stone, the heaviest I've been EVER
My BMI is 23.3 and I can't see where the extra 1/2stone has gone :smt102
