You Never Know.

Post by Luke Sharp »

Have known a chap his seventies in the IMTC for about 6 months now, meeting up and chatting with him every month or so. Was at the Northern Xmas dinner last night, chatting with him again about bike clubs, etc, and mentioned the KTC, and how I had a H1 and a H2, blah, blah, blah. He sat there silent & expressionless for about 15 minutes, I was beginning to think I was boring him? :(

Then he nonchalantly said “Yes I had the H2 750, a blue one! Bought it new from a mate who worked at Robinsons Motorcycles, on London Road in Sheffield in the early seventies, and it was the first bike I toured around Europe on! I wanted a Trident but they were on 10 weeks delivery? I had seen a blue H2 at the TT and liked the look of it, and the delivery was only a week, so I had that and off we went across the channel!”

I was completely gobsmacked and had no idea! Have asked if he can dig any photos out, or reg number etc. Watch this space! Thumbs Up

Another thing Dave said to me “When I turned up on the H2 my three mates on Triumphs were taking the piss, saying we’d be forever looking for the nearest petrol station. By the time we got back they were all in complaining to their dealer that their mpg was far worse than mine!”

Great and surprising story. I find talking triples in non-triples circles almost always results in talking to someone who's mate had a KH250 but it always seized up on the ... (you know the rest).

He is still looking through his old stuff, but still no registration number yet.

He did however send me this today. 8)

I was sat outside Hawes cafe just after I had bought (and stripped) the KH about 14 yrs ago, I was telling my mate it needed some new gear selector forks, a guy who was sat a few yards away said " I've got some" - me, really? Yes, he did and 2 of them are still in the bike!
