Ive bought £3X H2 air filters from Germany at £20 each +£10 post.
Total £70
They came through fine with no duty but Im sure his Ebay invoice showed the vat (included) in the total amount.
It all came through fine

Much better if you pay, or know the amount up front like the ebay global postage system, there's nothing worse than thinking you have bought something at the correct price and then get stung by HMRC for VAT on
the total amount including the postage and handling charge

Re: But from Ebay in Europe
Ebay's global postage system is a rip-off. The postage rate is highly inflated and they charge duty that isn't due. Any item under £135 (can't remember whether that's including postage off the top of my head) should come straight through unmolested IF the VAT has been paid. Ebay automatically adds VAT to overseas purchases so if it's under the threshold it'll come straight through, no import duty and no £12 'handling rip off fee'. Trouble is, if the seller uses the global postage thingy, ebay collect the import duty on all transactions. Or something along those lines

You can import goods from anywhere in the world up to £130 including postage duty free. I've tested this out on goods from the USA, Germany, Denmark and China recently and was never charged any duty. See government website:

Re: Anyone bought from Ebay in Europe
I've had, in the last year, two items bought off ebay usa under the duty threshold , charged and then never turned up.
Ebay refunded me at a lesser exchange rate and no explanation
