Genuine fuel pipe shrinkage.

Post by Baff1960 »

Hi.
Just refitted the fuel tank to my S2 after some winter work. The 2 year old original Kawasaki supplied rubber fuel pipe is now hard and shrunk and not long enough to reach the tap despite only using premium fuel + additive. Looks like I'm going to move to something reinforced. I don't remember rubber fuel pipe deteriorating quite as quick back in the day but the clear stuff did.

The modern "Petrol" is possibly the cause of previously good pipe not lasting long these days..

I got some nice supple hose from Wemoto. After just a few months I could snap it like a carrot and it shrank. Hose? Fuel? or a combination of the 2? Original hose certainly shrank in diameter and hardened after years of use but not like the problems we're having now.
